Generating capacities for virtual B2B matchmaking in the framework of the «Colombia Nature Travel Mart»

On November 11, SIPPO in alliance with PROCOLOMBIA and in its purpose of strengthening the commercial capacities of the entity's advisors and increasing tourism exports, held the Preparatory Workshop Colombia Nature Travel Mart: Effective participation in virtual B2B Matchmaking. The workshop provided tools on the skills required for virtual matchmaking in tourism and was aimed at PROCOLOMBIA's advisors and the companies registered for the Colombia Nature Travel Mart.

Colombia Nature Travel Mart, CNTM, is the most important business meeting in the Nature Tourism sector in Colombia, one of the segments with the greatest potential in the country, as it is considered the second country in the world with the greatest biodiversity. This virtual business conference, organized by ProColombia for the last 8 years, was attended by more than 98 international companies from 17 countries and more than 95 tourism companies from all over the country, most of them affiliated to ACOTUR, the Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Association of Colombia. During the first day of the CNTM, a Round of Chains was held to strengthen and articulate the national offer of nature tourism. 104 national tourism providers participated, including the projects of the Swiss cooperation program Colombia + Competitiva in the regions of Putumayo, Casanare, Quindío and Magdalena.

The workshop was given by consultants María Irene Haddad and Charles Mordret, and was attended by ProColombia's tourism advisors and 43 companies registered for the Colombia Nature Travel Mart. Initially, an introduction was made to the negative impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector, considering that tourism export revenues are expected to fall between USD 910 billion and USD 1.2 trillion in 2020 and that the sector's losses could reduce global GDP by 2.8% and put up to 100 million direct jobs at risk. Afterwards, the consultants shared the main trends of the sector and presented the Methodologies to develop virtual businesses: How to prepare the Unique Value Proposition? How to prepare the promotional and presentation material? How to find contacts and buyers? How to follow up on the fair to close the business opportunities generated? In general, the consultants shared all the tools from A to Z to make an effective virtual B2B matchmaking. Additionally, the consultants shared the virtual tourism negotiation scenarios that are currently being developed.
