Round table on Sustainable tourism hot burning issues

In December 2019, NTA with SIPPO support was planning to organize a round table on “Addressing burning sustainability issues” with a comprehensive participation of stakeholders to discuss the sustainable tourism issues identified from private sector perspective, where both international and local tour operators were interviewed to provide the working ground for discussion during round table.

In December 2019, NTA with SIPPO support was planning to organize a round table on “Addressing burning sustainability issues” with a comprehensive participation of stakeholders to discuss the sustainable tourism issues identified from private sector perspective, where both international and local tour operators were interviewed to provide the working ground for discussion during round table. The event was also aiming to bring together government institutions, donor organizations and private sector to address these issues. Unfortunately, the strong earthquake that hit Albania by end of November led to postponing this activity in February 4th, 2020. In this round table participated the following stakeholders:

  3. National Tourism Agency
  4. Swisscontact / Skills4Jobs
  5. RisiAlbania
  6. GIZ
  7. Mascontour
  8. EBRD
  9. Ride-Albania
  10. Outdoor Albania
  11. Zbulo! Explore Albania
  12. SIPPO / Swisscontact

 The issues identified and discussed were:

  1. Local food availability, safety and security
  2. Quality of services, certifications
  3. lack of guides
  4. Education and skills
  5. Seasonality extension

The aim of this round table was to coordinate actions to overcome these issues, investigate the causes and come up with an action plan.
